Wicked’s Favorite CD’s of 2009
Wicked’s Top 5 CD’s of 2009 are as follows*:
#5 Chevelle – Sci-Fi Crimes
This is the first time that I have fully embraced a Chevelle CD. There are only a couple songs I don’t care for on this 11 track disc. In the past with Chevelle, it has been the exact opposite. Sci-Fi Crimes is highlighted by one of my top ten songs of the year is “Jars”. Don’t look past “The Circus” or “Sleep Apnea”.

#4 Jay-Z – The Blueprint 3 [Explicit]
Nearly every track is flawless and unique. Check out “Already Home” and “Young Forever” since the released tracks have already been overplayed. I have come a long way since the days of hating Jay-Z with all my heart. It was his Black album that made me a Hova’s witness.

#3 Killswitch Engage – Killswitch Engage
I had a lot of expectations for this follow up to As Daylight Dies. I wasn’t blown away on the first listen or even the third. The lead single “Starting Over” is a far cry from “My Curse” from Daylight. I think I am being over critical because I was expecting so much from one my absolute favorite bands. I still love the CD more than John loves The Biggest Loser and tearful bathroom time. My favorite tracks include “Lost”, “Reckoning” and “The Return”. Killerdirt Entertainment and ERock’s World will be attending their March show in Seattle.
#2 HURT -Goodbye to the Machine
Despite what E-Rock may say, HURT is a talented band that is quite possibly one of the most underated bands of the decade. This CD doesn’t have a true heavy hitter like “Rapture” from VOL. 1 but it does have several well crafted songs. My favorites on the disc include “World Ain’t Right”, “Sweet Delilah” and “Wars”. Their songs transition well and are multi-layered with violin and piano at times. This is a band that definitaley needs a big break through song so they can compete with Staind and Nickelback for mainstream appeal. Check them out now!!!!

#1 Five Finger Death Punch -War Is The Answer
I had been impatiently waiting for this disc for over a year and it came out just in time for my Birthday. It was worth the wait and didn’t disappoint at all. Every song is killer and cements FFDP as one of the most successful Metal bands today. For some it may be too polished and commercial. For me it is a perfect blend of Hard Rock and Metal. I had the privilege of seeing them live and they replicate their sound very well. From start to finish this CD rocks so I will not highlight any of the songs. Buy the whole CD not just download a few tracks from iTunes.
*Mudvayne – Mudvayne was too late to be considered for 2009.

Jay-Z is always gonna bring out some good stuff, I think better then Killswitch Engage… but my thoughts are who did you select for the second and first pick?
incredible! Jay Z is a an remarkable guy.A bona fide modern day role model. I took my family to see him last year in concert and had a incredible time.
